PPH Hemorrhoidopexy

PPH Hemorrhoidopexy (short for Procedure For Prolapsed Hemorrhoids) or Stapled Anopexy is one method for treating hemorrhoids.

This techniques uses a specially designed circular stapler that is inserted through the anus.
Once the stapling device is positioned in the rectum, the stapler is fired removing a ring of redundant  tissue. This pulls the protruding hemorrhoidal tissue back into its normal position within the anal canal.

With the PPH hemorrhoidopexy anoscope inserted through the dilator, a circumferential purse-string is then carefully placed at the correct depth and thickness including both mucosa and submucosa.

The PPH hemorrhoidopexy stapler is then tightened by rotating the knob at its end. Note how the enlarged internal hemorrhoids are being pulled into the stapler.
